I love fig trees. The Bible is full of examples of them. Here in Porto Alegre there are several very large ones that offer incredible shade. They are huge and majestic.
I like bonsai because it remindes me that life, growth, and fruit are over the long haul. Purposful prunning, consistant contact with the sun, and weekly watering all add up to a healthy beautiful bonsai. There are some stages of course that will not be too beautiful. Right now the tree has some major prunning marks. Time will heal the wounds. I like what Charles Dickens said, “Train up a fig-tree in the way it should go, and when you are old sit under the shade of it.”
